Australian Curriculum
The Australian Curriculum seeks to assist every young Australian to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens. Described in a progressive learning framework from Foundation to Year 10, the Australian Curriculum informs teachers, parents, students, and the community stakeholders about the learning objectives and the standards of learning to be achieved throughout the schooling journey.
The Australian Curriculum makes it possible for each and every student to receive the same high quality and standard of education, irrespective of their location.
Assessments
We are responsible for the development of the National Assessment Program (NAP), which includes the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN), the 3-yearly NAP sample assessments in science literacy, civics and citizenship, and ICT literacy, and the NAP Opt-in assessments in the NAP sample assessment domains.
These assessments test students’ knowledge of what is in the Australian Curriculum and tell us whether their students are developing the essential skills – predominantly literacy and numeracy – they will need in life.
